The staff were all suitably attired, courtesy of our fabulous friends at Wells Trading Post.
Musical accompaniment was provided by the wonderful 'Tom Cat' and Voodoo Zoot with tunes from the era.
Our guests of honour were George Rhodes, of the Royal British Legion, in his 99th year and looking forward to his centenary, as well as the Price family, Sidney, Barbara and Audrey, all of whom lived at The Crown during that time with their parents. Sidney and his brother Cyril were off to fight, while Barbara and Audrey stayed behind to help run The Crown and assist with the troops billeted here.
Wells Journal were here in the shape of editor Bede Macgowan and Clare Blackmore who compiled the excellent 1945 supplement given to all our guests.
It was a very nostalgic and fun afternoon and such a success we intend to do something similar in the not too distant future. Watch this 'ere space...
